Meeting the needs of the drinking water industry

Access to potable water is essential, and all water-contacting materials and products, from the water source to the tap, must undergo thorough evaluation to help prevent harmful chemicals, metals and microorganisms from contaminating the water we drink. UL Solutions offers a broad range of comprehensive services to test, inspect and certify the essential materials, products and technologies that deliver water.

Our experienced water team has the flexibility to adapt to ever-evolving regulatory changes around the world, with regional laboratories and testing facilities that allow our customers to reach new markets with local support in North America, the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (U.K.) and Asia.

We also provide testing for the interoperability and cybersecurity of smart water systems and products, making us a single-source provider for testing and certification.

Testing and certification

Our team of water experts offers testing and certification for water safety and chemical standards, including testing for coagulation and flocculation, corrosion and scale control, and , pH adjustment. Our laboratories can support your projects using standards and requirements from the following organizations and schemes:

  • NSF International
  • American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
  • International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO)
  • ASSE International Chapter of IAPMO (ASSE)
  • American Water Works Association (AWWA)
  • CSA Group

  • British Standard (BS) 6920
  • Reg 31 Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI)
