The new EU Directive on the quality of water intended for human consumption was adopted in December 2020 and entered into force in January 2021. It repeals the old Directive 98/83/EC, introducing, among others, new requirements for materials and products coming into contact with water intended for human consumption.
Our experts provide a summary of the new Directive, its new Article 11 and related complementing acts. These provisions set more precise minimum hygiene requirements for materials meant to be used for the abstraction, treatment, storage, or distribution of water intended for human consumption in new installations, as well as in existing installations in the event of reconstruction or repair work.
