UL Standards continues to be the industry benchmark for commercial displays. Previously, displays have undergone many innovations including embedded computers, motion and LED lighting. In addition, displays are developed and manufactured for a shorter life cycle to keep retail shelves fresh and exciting.
In line with the recommendations of stakeholders and members of the Standards Technical Panels, a new standard that combines UL 65 Standard for Wired Cabinets and UL 962 Standard for Household and Commercial Furnishings into a single, streamlined standard with modernized requirements and requirements for temporary displays. That result, UL 970, the Standard for Retail Fixtures and Merchandise Displays, was published on Feb. 20, 2020, and provides updated requirements for commercial displays, showcases and temporary displays.
