EUROPEAN UNION - The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has released EN 1811:2011+A1:2015, amending the test method used for REACH compliance to determine nickel released from jewelry and other metal components. The method specifically applies to products that may be in direct or prolonged contact with skin.
Products with nickel release of up to 0.88μg/cm²/week will be permitted in the market. The amendment is in effect at a national level beginning January 1, 2016, which is stated as its date of publication (DOP).
