Toys: China Publishes Updated Mandatory Toy Safety Standard

China announced the publication of the standard Safety of toys — Part 1: Basic code (GB 6675.1-2025). These mandatory requirements are in the scope of the China Compulsory Certificate (CCC).

On Oct. 5, 2025, the National Standardization Administration of China announced the publication of the Safety of toys — Part 1: Basic code (GB 6675.1-2025) standard. These are mandatory requirements within the scope of the China Compulsory Certificate (CCC).

Changes made to this version of the standard include:

  • Added realistic food imitation requirements
  • Revised requirements for migration of certain elements and phthalates
  • Added requirements for formaldehyde, azo dyes, PAH, N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances, formamide, SCCP, release of various volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), and allergenic fragrances
  • Added requirement for electrical toys that have a working voltage over 24V
  • Detailed hygiene requirements and added odor-related requirements
  • Added electromagnetic requirements
  • Revised labelling requirements, including warnings for toys packaged with food

This standard shall be enforced on Nov. 1, 2026.
