Lightning protection components 

UL Solutions evaluates air terminals (rods), conductors, fittings, terminal bases, connectors and similar parts to ANSI/CAN/UL 96. Certifications are available for Class I, II and III components, aligned to installation needs within a lightning protection system.  

Grounding and bonding equipment 

We evaluate a wide range of grounding and bonding products — including ground rods, clamps, bushings, locknuts, hubs, clips, mesh, plate electrodes, couplings, armored grounding wire, water‑meter shunts and exothermic welding systems — to UL 467 in the U.S., CSA C22.2 No. 41 in Canada and NMX‑J‑590‑ANCE in Mexico.  

Standards we evaluate to

  • ANSI/CAN/UL 96 — Standard for Safety for Lightning Protection Components (harmonized for U.S. and Canada). Listings result in a UL/C‑UL Listing Mark.  
  • UL 467, the Standard for Grounding and Bonding Equipment (with applicable Canadian/Mexican standards for regional market access).  

 Lightning protection systems include various components, including air terminals (rods), conductors and fittings, all of which must be UL Listed (ANSI/CAN/UL 96, the Standard for Safety for Lightning Protection Components) according to the installation standards. Lightning protection systems are designed to provide a safer path to ground for lightning currents. Lightning protection systems are customized for individual structures and should only be installed by qualified installers according to the NFPA 780 and/or UL 96A, the Standards for the Installation Requirements of Lightning Protection Systems.
