Cellular Metal Floor Raceway System Certification
Testing and certifying cable trays; conduit, conduit fittings and conduit/cable support; and metallic and nonmetallic outlet boxes and cover plates.
National and local building codes require certification of metallic and nonmetallic outlet boxes and cover: raceway systems employing conduit, conduit fittings and conduit supports; and metallic and nonmetallic cable trays. We offer many certifications for these products and evaluate the interchangeability of these components to be used together. We understand your challenges keeping up with the emerging technologies and demands for faster installations. As innovation continues in the electrical construction industry, we’re poised to meet your needs.
With combined U.S. and Canadian testing of mechanical support assemblies including metallic and nonmetallic outlet boxes and cover plates; conduit, conduit fittings and conduit/cable support; and cable trays we can provide extensive North American access. Our long history and experience with products allow us to provide assistance and develop requirements that help your products get certified and accepted by local AHJs.
In addition to assisting with the certification process of cable trays; conduit, conduit fittings and conduit/cable support; and metallic and nonmetallic outlet boxes and cover plates; we can also provide other support for instances where the product is onsite but is not currently certified or for innovative constructions not currently anticipated by the standards or the NEC. These services include:
Installing metallic and nonmetallic outlet boxes and covers helps ensure a suitable mechanical and, for the metallic outlet boxes and covers, electrical ground path to protect the wiring inside and the user from shock hazards.
Additionally, installing cable or conduit raceway systems helps ensure a suitable mechanical and, for some systems, electrical ground path to protect the user and the wiring inside from shock hazards.
Finally, installing cable trays helps ensure the suitability of the mechanical securement based on a load rating of the cable trays. Metallic cable trays additionally help ensure the suitability of the electrical ground path to protect the user and the cable laying inside the cable trays from shock hazards.
When performing electrical inspections, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) require metallic and nonmetallic outlet boxes and covers to be certified. UL offers U.S. and Canadian certification to meet these requirements. UL can also offer testing and reports for acceptance of some of these products for use in the Middle East and the NOM Mark for use in Mexico.
