New robot designs have moved beyond the structured environments of manufacturing floors and surgery centers. Increasingly, they are more mobile and interact with people, which can create unintended consequences.
In this talk, UL expert Paul Blackett summarizes the rise of consumer technology and the subsequent need for interoperable products that connect seamlessly and reliably. This connectivity is needed not only for consumer convivence but to protect functional safety systems. He also shares challenges and best practices for interoperability in consumer products, which can be applied to today’s evolving industry for robot use in homes, retail, restaurants and other service industries.
