Certification allows manufacturers of Medical and IT equipment "plug and play" functionality with other Continua certified devices
NORTHBROOK, IL, Jun. 12, 2012 -- UL (Underwriters Laboratories), in conjunction with Continua Health Alliance (Continua) is excited to announce it has been certified as a Continua Certification testing laboratory and can now support IT and Medical device manufacturers' claims of interoperability with other Continua certified products around the world.
The Continua Certification ensures that Continua Certified products and services meet the requirements of the Continua Guidelines to facilitate seamless connectivity between personal connected health products and services, such as smart phones, gateways and remote monitoring devices. Personal Health products featuring the Continua logo indicate that they meet conformance requirements as well as interoperability requirements with other Continua devices. Completing the certification program requirements is required before compliance can be claimed. The Continua Health Alliance's Design Guidelines contain references to the standards and specifications that Continua had selected for establishing the interoperability of devices.
UL has been sanctioned to perform all necessary testing and provide the related results and reports for any new devices subject to the Continua Certification program. Additionally, UL can provide advice, clarifications and training for manufacturers that are interested in the Continua Health Alliance Certification program.
"Continua is pleased to be working with UL, a trusted resource in the health sciences industry supporting the safety of healthcare around the world," said Chuck Parker, Executive Director, Continua Health Alliance.
