On June 6, 2025, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published ISO 8124-4:2025 Part 4: Activity toys for domestic use.

This document specifies requirements and test methods for activity toys for indoor and outdoor domestic family use intended for children under 14 years to play on or in.

This version cancels and replaces the previous version, ISO 8124-4:2014, and incorporates Amendment 1:2017 and Amendment 2:2019. This new version of the standard includes a new definition for activity toys which includes paddling pools. It also contains some modifications to align the text with EN 71-8 and ASTM F1148.

Additional changes include adding specific requirements and test methods (i.e., requirements for diameter of ropes, hand-gripping and hand-grasping, crush and shear points, handrails on the starting section of slides and see-saws).
