What does our mission mean to you?
- The UL Solutions mission of working for a safer world means that the well-being of individuals and communities is its highest priority. As an employee of a company that has a vested and unbiased interest in supporting the global safety of various products, I am excited to be connected as a contributor to a larger impact.
How do you integrate our values in your role?
- Our values show up for me daily as I can partake in development programs and classes (growth), have biweekly 1:1 and quarterly check-ins with my manager (integrity), work in a secure environment with safety and security initiatives (safety) and utilize the corporate-provided social platform to cultivate ideas and share affinities (respect).
Describe UL Solutions in five words or less.
- Dedicated, resilient, trusted, global leader and growing footprint.
Tell me about a time when your job felt meaningful.
- A time that was really meaningful for me was when I connected a friend (who was a firefighter trainer) with the manager of one of our Personal Protection Equipment labs for a tour of the facility. He later told me the tour was a wonderful experience because not only was his class able to witness how their firefighter gear is tested, but it also reinforced confidence in their equipment.
What would you tell someone who is considering joining UL Solutions?
- I would tell them that joining UL Solutions offers a unique opportunity to be a part of a collaborative and innovative environment. I’ve been proud to be part of UL Solutions for over 23 years. Throughout my journey, I’ve been inspired by a culture of creativity, inclusivity and continuous learning — each of which has played a meaningful role in shaping both my personal and professional growth.
Is there anything else you think is important for me to know?
- In our logistical role within Sample Handling, we have the unique opportunity to work with a wide range of products and technologies — before they reach the public. As these items flow through our process, we collaborate with employees across different teams who share valuable insights into technological advancements and innovative solutions. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the products we help test for safety eventually appear in the public market — an experience that’s just as exciting to me today as it was on my first day.
