Could you tell me a little about your current role?
My role has recently evolved, and I am in the process of learning and adapting to new responsibilities. I was appointed as the regional operations manager for Consumer, Medical, and Information Technology (CMIT) across Europe, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute at this level. Previously, I served as the operations manager for the UK. I am passionate about driving innovation and take pride in creating meaningful impact.
How does our mission of working for a safer world manifest itself in your day job?
Being on the safety team makes this easy to quantify. It’s really nice to have passionate people surrounding me each day. We do safety assessments that make a difference not just to the company and our customers, but also to the world. It’s quite easy to get passionate about your work when you are personally involved in testing and evaluating products that could find their way into the hands of vulnerable people, children or elderly. Being part of safety testing allows you to see the tangible impact of your work and know you’re truly making a difference.
What kind of legacy do you want to leave through your work with UL Solutions?
For me it’s about culture. I think I am moving into a really positive role and want to encourage and motivate people. I would like to create a positive environment where people feel well-rewarded and come to work loving what they do. I feel that if you get that positive mindset right, the rest will follow.
In what ways has UL Solutions supported your career development and growth?
I started at UL Solutions as a safety engineer and came in with ideas from day one. I shared those ideas early, and I was thrilled by how well they were received. Within a few weeks, I was speaking with the regional manager, and several of my suggestions were implemented quickly. Seeing those ideas in action today makes me proud.
Looking back, the growth I’ve experienced is remarkable. UL Solutions has helped me develop soft skills I never had before and provided time and exposure to learn. The pace of change has been rapid, but I’ve had strong support along the way. I’ve learned that feeling uncomfortable is part of growth—and that’s where real progress happens.
Can you share some of the coolest things you have been a part of at UL Solutions?
It’s the initiatives. We have been able to hire more people and make a real difference to people's lives because we have had such success with our projects. We had a recurring issue in a lab that caused delays. My team identified a challenge, developed an innovative solution, brought in the right expertise to implement it, and invested in training to ensure long-term success. To watch the team grow and learn makes me feel very proud. It was also a great feeling to have one of our ideas brought to life and even recognized by the CEO.
What is the best thing about working at UL Solutions?
For me, the best part of working at UL Solutions is the strong sense of teamwork. We make it a priority to connect—whether it’s sharing lunch together or celebrating our successes with activities like bowling or team dinners.
We also foster collaboration and innovation through tools like our electronic whiteboard, where anyone can share new ideas. In addition, our rewards and recognition program ensures that great work is acknowledged. UL Solutions truly values feedback and recognizes contributions, which makes it a rewarding place to work.
