Parliamentary Counsel Office Releases Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Not Genetically Modified) Amendment Regulations 2016

The Parliamentary Counsel Office of New Zealand has released Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Not Genetically Modified) Amendment Regulations 2016.

These new regulation aims to amend Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Not Genetically Modified) Regulations 1998. The amendment specifies the addition of the following:

  • After regulation 3(b), insert: (ba) organisms that result from mutagenesis that uses chemical or radiation treatments that were in use on or before 29 July 1998

This regulation was released on August 29, 2016 and is set to take effect 28 days after its official publication in the NZ Gazette.
