The State of California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has added four chemicals to Proposition 65.
The four chemicals are:
- Chloral (CAS No. 75-87-6)
- Chloral hydrate (CAS No. 302-17-0)
- 1,1,1,2-Tetrachloroethane (CAS No. 630-20-6)
- Trichloroacetic acid (CAS No. 76-03-9)
Chloral and chloral hydrate are sedative and hypnotic agents that, with prolonged use, can cause liver damage. 1,1,1,2-Tetrachloroethane is a chlorinated derivative of ethane and is already identified as a possible human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Trichloroacetic acid is an analogue of acetic acid.
