Guy Tomberlin Joins UL's Codes and Regulatory Services

Guy is now leading UL’s regulatory efforts in the plumbing, mechanical and fuel gas disciplines within the U.S.

Guy Tomberlin joined UL recently as a senior regulatory engineer in UL’s Codes and Regulatory Services Department. Guy will lead UL’s regulatory efforts in the plumbing, mechanical and fuel gas disciplines within the U.S. In this role, Guy will provide technical expertise in code compliance and standards related issues to assist regulatory authorities, manufacturers, designers and contractors in resolving product acceptance and code compliance issues. He will also lead and actively participate in model code development efforts and support code-based advisory services solutions for UL clients in these disciplines.

Prior to joining UL, Guy worked as the building inspections branch chief with Fairfax County, Virginia, where he managed a team of commercial and residential inspection supervisors and inspectors. During his 34 year career with Fairfax County, he served as the chief plumbing inspector, codes specialist, supervisor of commercial mechanical inspections and combination field inspector. He has been involved with code development on the national and state level for nearly three decades, developing proposals, testifying at public hearings and serving on various committees.
