European Union Releases Safety Assessment of Substances for Use in Food Contact Materials

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has released safety assessments of two substances intended for use in food contact materials, specifically:

Poly((R)-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-(R)-3-hydroxyhexanoate) – used to produce packaging for contact with fresh whole fruits and vegetables

Polyacrylic acid, sodium salt, cross-linked – used as a liquid absorber in the packaging of fresh or frozen foods, such as meat, poultry, seafood, fruits and vegetables
