The Socio-economic Analysis Committee of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has adopted the proposed restriction on siloxane compounds D4 and D5.
The adopted opinion, submitted by the United Kingdom, recommends restriction in wash-off products to protect the water environment. D4 is persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) and D5 is very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB).
The committee adopted the opinion at its plenary meetings held May 31, 2016 to June 9, 2016.
