The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released its update on the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, specifically covering Section R.7.2 on Skin corrosion/irritation, serious eye damage/eye irritation and respiratory tract corrosion/irritation and Section R.7.6 on Reproductive Toxicity.
Update on Section R.7.2 covers:
- Details on the recently adopted and revised Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) test guidelines for the testing of skin corrosion/irritation and serious eye damage/eye irritation
- Consideration of the OECD Integrated Approach on Testing and Assessment (IATA) for skin corrosion and irritation
- Revision and reorganization of Section R.7.2, with focus on information regarding alternative methods for each endpoint and when and how to use them for REACH purposes
