ECHA Releases REACH Guidance on Information Requirements (European Union)

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released its update on the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, specifically covering Section R.7.2 on Skin corrosion/irritation, serious eye damage/eye irritation and respiratory tract corrosion/irritation and Section R.7.6 on Reproductive Toxicity.

Update on Section R.7.2 covers:

  • Details on the recently adopted and revised Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) test guidelines for the testing of skin corrosion/irritation and serious eye damage/eye irritation
  • Consideration of the OECD Integrated Approach on Testing and Assessment (IATA) for skin corrosion and irritation
  • Revision and reorganization of Section R.7.2, with focus on information regarding alternative methods for each endpoint and when and how to use them for REACH purposes
