The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released a call for evidence on the conclusions of two Annex XV reports, which propose not to initiate restrictions for the following, under Article 69(2) of Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH):
- 1-tert-butyl-3,5-dimethyl-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (musk xylene) (CAS No. 81-15-2 and EC No. 201-329-4)
- Bis (4-aminophenyl)methane; 4,4’-Diaminodiphenylmethane (MDA) (CAS No. 101-77-9 and EC No. 202-974-4)
MDA is a category 1B carcinogen, while musk xylene is a vPvB substance, used as a fragrance in consumer products such as fabric conditioners and air fresheners.
Deadline for comments is July 15, 2015.
