Council of Ministers Agrees with New Limit Values for Lead in Toys

November 7, 2016

European Union’s Environment ministers have expressed support on the proposed amendment to the 2009 toy safety directive, introducing stricter limit values for lead.

The ministers, during a meeting, have decided to agree with strengthening the limit values since evidence shows that the current limits are "no longer appropriate" and that they must be aligned with “the latest scientific data” to lessen children’s exposure to lead.

The meeting was held in Luxembourg on October 17, 2016.
