CEN Issues Standard for Child Protective Products

EUROPEAN UNION - The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has released EN 16654:2015 Child protective products - Consumer fitted finger protection devices for doors - Safety requirements and test methods.

The standard provides the requirements and test methods for consumer fitted finger protection devices intended to be mounted on hinged doors in the domestic environment inside buildings preventing crushing injuries to children as a result of the door closing. Product covered in this standard must provide at least one of these three protection methods: hazard shielding, shut prevention or shut controlling.

The standard is in effect as of May 31, 2016.
