Brazil Sets Crib Requirements

April 14, 2016

The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO) issued Ordinance No. 53, establishing the following for children’s cribs in Brazil:

  • General and technical requirements
  • Marking and labelling requirements
  • Test methods for conformity assessment

It also revokes the previous Ordinance No. 269/2011 and its amendment Ordinance Nos. 594/2013 and 243/2015.   The ordinance applies to children’s cribs manufactured and imported into Brazil and is effective beginning August 2017. Beginning February 2019, only products that comply with the ordinance will be permitted to be sold on the Brazil market.   Source
