Verify quality and performance through mechanical and performance testing

Demonstrate safety through testing

Children’s furniture presents unique risks to children, such as entrapment, pinch, and tip over. To help manufacturers minimize such risks, UL Solutions is an approved test lab under the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), in which testing is performed to the Codes of Federal Regulations (CFR) and associated American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards developed in response to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA).

These standards include:

16 CFR Part 1218 / ASTM F2194-16 – Safety Standard for Bassinets and Cradles
16 CFR Part 1219 / ASTM F1169-19 – Safety Standard for Full-Size Cribs
16 CFR Part 1231 / ASTM F404-18 – Safety Standard for High Chairs
16 CFR Part 1220 / ASTM F406-19 – Safety Standard for Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs

All the standards are designed to rigorously evaluate the safety of children’s products.

The UL Stability Verified Program includes safety testing designed to evaluate products' potential hazards, such as furniture tip-over.

Flammability testing

We offer comprehensive flammability testing for fabrics and upholstered furnishings, conducted in accordance with nationally recognized standards. These tests investigate ignition, flame-spread and heat-release characteristics of furnishings.
