UNITED STATES - The Vermont Department of Health has delayed the online reporting system for the final rule for toxic substances in children’s products. The final rule specifies that companies selling children’s products in Vermont should disclose the presence of any of 66 chemicals:
- As a contaminant, at 100 ppm or more
- As an intentionally added chemical, over the chemical’s practical quantification limit (PQL)
The final rule was in effect beginning December 10, 2015 and requires that manufacturers submit a report specifying the amount of a chemical in the product by July 1, 2016.
The department has announced that it is unable to accept reports until spring 2016, following beta testing of the reporting system.
