The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has approved a new safety standard concerning the improvement of the safety of for durable infant or toddler products including infant bath seats, toddler beds, and full-size cribs.
The new standard will incorporate as a reference, the voluntary standard ASTM F2050-13a Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Hand-Held Infant Carriers. The difference is that the new standard will also applies to semi-rigid-sided products.
The direct final rule will revise the safety standards for infant bath seats, toddler beds and full-size cribs that will become effective on March 24, 2014, unless CPSC will receive significant adverse comments.
