Modifying Quality Management Systems to Meet the Unique Needs of AM

Speaker: Chris Krampitz, UL Director of Strategy & Innovation

Tuesday, 5/17, 3:15 pm – 3:40 pm

As AM technology emerges out of development and into production, many manufacturers find themselves wrestling with the adaption of quality management systems (QMS) to handle the unique issues posed by AM. QMS must be modified to incorporate the right focus on process, part, and system that will allow certification (3rd party assessment) or self-declaration. Also, QMS must account for a properly qualified and managed AM supply chain including part/product selection, raw materials, internal equipment, and contract manufacturing among others. Chris Kramptiz, UL director of Strategy & Innovation, will discuss the need to modify existing QMS for AM. Identifying gaps and new considerations unique to AM, the presentation provides the tools necessary to develop an AM-centric QMS.
