Rhode Island Passes Bill for Children’s Jewelry Safety Act

July 28, 2014

The state of Rhode Island passed HB 7157 / SB 2278, amending the Comprehensive Children's Jewelry Safety Act to require all children's jewelry "sold" to meet ASTM F 2923-11, a specification establishing requirements and test methods for specified elements and certain mechanical hazards in children's jewelry.

The amendment replaces the word "manufactured" with the word "sold.”
