The National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People's Republic of China (NHFPC) are consulting the public on the release of a national standard regarding the use of detergent products with food products and food contact materials.
National Food Safety Standard: Detergent relates to food safety as it specifies two classes of detergent identified as:
- Class A: Detergent used directly to wash and clean food
- Class B: Detergent used to clean tableware and food contact tools, equipment, food packaging materials and containersThe public consultation is ends March 30, 2015.
- The standard also discusses the general requirements for raw materials (surfactants, preservatives, colorants and essences), products (arsenic, heavy metals, methanol, formaldehyde, total plate count and coliforms) and labeling of detergents.
