The Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) of New Zealand has concluded that the use of fish oil and fish oil supplements is safe after a recent study shows no evidence of food safety risk.
The study, Risk Assessment of Fish Oil and Oxidized Fish Oil, released in April 2015, declares that the level of oxidation products in the fish oils on the New Zealand market is not high enough to pose a risk to consumers when consumers follow manufacturers’ recommended dose instructions found on product labels.
The MPI and MOH announcement was made on July 22, 2016.
