New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation that expands the TRIS-Free Children and Babies Act which prohibits the use of the flame retardant TRIS in products intended for use by children under the age of 3 years (including baby products, toys, car seats, nursing pillows, crib mattresses, and strollers).
This new law, (A4741/S3703-B), effective December 1, 2015, seeks to provide additional protections for young children by expanding the definition of TRIS to include both Tris (2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) and Tris (1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCPP).
