Minnesota Signs into Law Flame Retardants Restriction

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has signed into law a SF 1215, prohibiting manufacturers or wholesalers from manufacturing, selling or distributing children's products and residential upholstered furniture, containing more than 1,000 parts per million of the following flame retardants beginning July 1, 2017:

  • TDCPP (tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)phosphate)
  • TCEP (tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate)
  • decaBDE (decabromodiphenyl ether)
  • HBCDD (hexabromocyclododecane)

As of July 1, 2018, the restriction will apply to retailers as well.
