Minnesota Governor Signs Bill on Flame-Retardants Chemicals in Children’s Products and Furniture

Governor Mark Dayton has signed Minnesota Senate Bill 1215 banning manufacturers or wholesalers from manufacturing, selling, offering for sale, distributing for sale, or distributing for use in the state a children's product or upholstered residential furniture containing, in amounts greater than 1,000 parts per million in any product component, the following flame-retardant chemicals:

  • TDCPP (tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)phosphate)
  • Decabromodiphenyl ether
  • Hexabromocyclododecane
  • TCEP (tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate)

Signed May 19, 2015, the bill becomes effective July 1, 2018.
