MFDS Amends Usage Limit for Two Cosmetic Ingredients

The Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has amended the usage limit for the following cosmetic ingredients:

Ingredient Name Usage Limit Prohibition
Compounds of Methylchloroisothiazol inone and Methylisothiazolinone (including magnesium chloride and magnesium nitrate) 0.0015% for rinse-off products

(Methylchloroisothiazol inone: Methylisothiazolinone=3:1)

Prohibited for use in other products
Triclosan 0.3% for rinse-off body cleansing products, deodorants (spray products excluded) and foundation for topical use only (e.g. blemish concealer) Prohibited for use in other products

The proposed revision on the usage limit of the two ingredients is open for public consultation until May 26, 2015.
