The government of Marshall Islands has introduced the Styrofoam and Plastic Products Prohibition Act 2016 on August 12, 2016.
This act aims to prohibit the importation, manufacturing, sale or distribution of Styrofoam cups and plates, disposable plastic cups and plates and plastic shopping bags.
This act also lists the following:

- Power to Seize, Forfeiture and Destruction
- Regulations
The act is set to be enforced on February 1, 2017.
