Italy Introduces Draft EU Labeling Requirements for Food Products

ITALY - The Council of Ministers of Italy has approved a draft bill amending the EU Regulation 1169/201 intended to introduce a European food label that will eliminate the compulsory indication of the manufacturing plant, as foreseen by the previous Italian regulation.

The draft bill is for submission to the Parliament and notification to the European authorities for prior approval. Brussels is expected to approve the draft bill under the Italian Parliament.
