EN standards are approved and vetted by a technical committee with subject matter experts who propose and steer amendments with which revisions are voted on. The standards are then approved by the European Committee for Standardization. The European Union structure currently includes 27 participating countries with a further five more countries transitioning to EU law:

EN standards relevant to gas-fired cooking appliances

EN 30: Domestic cooking appliances include products such as hot plates, table cookers, griddles and portable stoves designed to be used indoors in a household setting. These types of appliances push the boundaries of what can be prepared in the home.

EN 203: Gas-heated catering equipment includes products such as professional cooking and baking oven appliances used in the indoor commercial surrounding. To ensure delicious tasting and beautifully crafted foods, these appliances share the spotlight with masterclass chefs.

EN 498: LP gas appliances include barbecues and contact grills for outdoor use. Campfire stories, golden sunsets, the sizzling sounds of a mouth-watering meal are best shared with those closest to us. EN 498 is the latest addition to our North American laboratory capability.

Our laboratory in Northbrook, Illinois, is fully capable of testing appliances to EN 30 and EN 203. Our Toronto, Ontario, laboratory possesses the unique ability of testing to all three appliance categories. Both laboratories are equipped with an industry-leading gas mixer apparatus to operate the vast array of gas mixtures utilized in the European marketplace. Our engineers and technicians have participated in numerous gas cooking appliance evaluations, providing us with the knowledge and hands-on experience to meet your needs.

Once your product meets EN regulations, we can continue to strengthen the relationship with our team of ISO 9001 Accredited Lead Auditors who can perform annual inspections to avoid having to arrange for an overseas auditor to perform this service.
