FSSAI Aims to Release New Standards for Food Supplements

December 13, 2016

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is aiming to release new standards specifically for food supplements to ensure safe supplements to citizens.

The new standards are currently in the final stage of notification and expected to be notified post government approval. This was released by the FSSAI CEO Pawan Kumar Agarwal at a conference for the Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA).

The intent to regulate food supplements started last year with draft quality and safety norms to regulate food or health supplements, nutraceuticals, functional and dietary foods.
