France Passes New Law to Ban Plastic Cooking and Eating Utensils

The government of France has passed a new law, the Energy Transition for Green Growth Act, that aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, diversify its energy model and increase the deployment of renewable energy sources.

Part of the law pertains to the banning of the distribution of disposable cooking and eating utensils, cups and plates by January 1, 2020.

Aside from this, the law also bans the use of plastic bags and check-outs from January 1, 2016 and the prohibition of plastic bags in fruit and vegetable departments from January 1, 2017.
