Finland Revises Paint and Varnish Standards

The Finnish Standards Association (SFS) released standards for defining paints and varnishes, which are in accordance with similar standards released by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

SFS-EN ISO 4618 Paints and varnishes. Terms and Definitions Defines terms related to paints and varnishes, including raw materials, in English, French, and German. The standard has also revised its terms. Terms related to nanotechnology has been harmonized with the technical specification ISO / TS 80004-4.
SFS-EN ISO 2813 Paints and varnishes. Determination of gloss angles of 20 °, 60 ° and

85 °

Describes the method for determining the gloss of coatings from three different angles: 20°, 60° or 85°. The method is suitable for flat, opaque surfaces. It also describes the basic principles of gloss measurement, the requirements of test panels, gloss meter calibration and tuning, gloss determination procedures, precision and test reports.
