UNITED STATES - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched a new web resource that shares information about sampling programs for food safety and provides information on a more robust surveillance sampling approach under development.
Additionally, beginning in fiscal year 2016, the FDA will be conducting sampling and testing for cucumbers and hot peppers under this program. The FDA also specifies the publication of information regarding test results on the Web, including total number of samples collected and tested, as well as collection date, sample type, and pathogen detected for positive samples.
The new web source outlines the following types of sampling:
- Product Sampling
- Environmental Sampling
- Emergency Response/Emerging Issues Sampling
