EU and U.S. Continue Cosmetics Regulations Talks

December 18, 2013

The European Union (EU) and U.S. representatives have concluded their second round of week-long negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership where negotiating teams are said to have discussed regulatory compatibility for cosmetics.

According to the EU, products with hazardous chemicals should not be used at all; while the U.S. voiced that such products could be used, but not in ways that may potentially harm consumers.

Both countries are hoping to make continued progress toward coming up with domestic standards as a benchmark for developing global rules that are beneficial for both EU and U.S. exporters.
