As part of a larger program for the implementation of energy efficiency requirements in Ukraine, new technical regulations in this field have been recently approved and will become mandatory for Ukraine market access.
In addition to the Energy Label, introduced as mandatory for several types of electrical equipment, a regulation on eco-design is in force, and the related regulations for specific product categories are in the approval or implementation phase and will enter in force starting from September 2019.
The requirements are harmonized with relative European Directives.
Appliances subject to energy labeling requirements include:
- Household ovens and cooker hoods
- Household tumble dryers
- Air conditioners
- Vacuum cleaners
- Household refrigerators
- Household washing machines
- Household dishwashers
- Water heaters, hot water storage tanks and packaging of water heaters and solar devices, newly approved, in force on Jan. 21, 2020.
An energy label, product fiche in Ukrainian and a technical documentation folder are required. Tests can be conducted by the manufacturer or by a third-party test laboratory. Appliances are subject to ecodesign requirements.
Technical regulation on ecodesign for energy-related products in force on April 6, 2019, (based on European Directive 2009/125/EC). Regulations for the following products will enter in force starting in September 2019.
- Vacuum cleaners
- Household refrigerators
- Industrial fans
- Water pumps
- Electric motors
- Glandless standalone circulators and glandless circulators integrated in products
- Household tumble dryers, newly approved, in force from Jan. 2, 2020
Final publication and implementation is also expected for cooking appliances, dishwashers, water heaters, air conditioners and washing machines.
Products in compliance with ecodesign requirements shall be marked with the Ukrainian National Mark of Conformity. The manufacturer or their authorized representative shall affix the mark and sign a Declaration of Conformity.
