ECHA Proposes New Revision of Classification and Labeling of BPA

September 17, 2013

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has launched public consultation on a proposal for the revision of harmonized classification and labeling (CLH) on bisphenol A (BPA).

The proposal was created by France, stating that the current CLH should be changed from reproductive toxicity category 2 (hazard statement code H361f) to reproductive toxicity Category 1B (hazard statement code H360F). This proposal focuses on the adverse effect of BPA on the sexual function and fertility of consumers.

The 45-day public consultation will end on October 11, 2013.
