The European Commission (EC) has submitted a proposal for the listing of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) under the UN Stockholm Convention on persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
The proposal follows the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) conclusion that D4 and D5 fulfill the REACH Annex XIII criteria for persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) and very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) substances in the environment.
The notice was published on March 17, 2016. The date of adoption is not yet published.
