EC Amends Annex II to Toy Directive 2009/48/EC

EC enacts Commission Directive (EU) amending Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the prohibition of allergenic fragrances in toys.

This directive amends the Toy Safety Direction to:

  • Add of three allergenic fragrances to first paragraph of point 11 of Part III of Annex II
  • Atranol (CAS: 526-37-4)
  • Chloroatranol (CAS: 57074-21-2)
  • Methyl heptine carbonate (CAS: 111-12-6)

Member states shall adopt and publish, by July 4, 2022 at the latest, the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with this directive. They shall forthwith communicate to the Commission the text of those provisions. They shall apply those provisions from July 5, 2022.
