EC Adopts Directive on Aerosol Dispensers

December 13, 2016

The European Commission (EC) has adopted ‘Commission Directive (EU) 2016/2037 Amending Council Directive 75/324/EEC’, relating to aerosol dispensers.

The Directive establishes higher maximum allowable pressure of aerosol dispensers which use non-flammable propellants. It also adapts labelling provisions for aerosols to the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) of Substances and Mixtures.

It will take effect on December 12, 2016. Member states are expected to adopt and publish the necessary laws and provisions by December 12, 2017, which will then be applied on February 12, 2018.
