Connecticut’s General Assembly is considering Senate Bill No. 84, An Act Concerning Cadmium in Children’s Jewelry.
The Bill would ban the manufacture, sale, offer for sale or distribution of any children’s jewelry that contains cadmium in an amount that exceeds the level set forth in ASTM F2923:2011, Standard Specification for Consumer Product Safety for Children’s Jewelry. If passed, the adoption would take effect on July 1, 2014.
The bill was successfully voted out of committee on March 18, 2014.
