CIRS Provides Clarifications on Baby Toiletry Guidelines

October 16, 2015

CHINA - The Chemical Inspection and Regulation Service (CIRS) announced some clarifications for imported baby toiletries and how to properly import into China. Additional documentation is required for the importation of baby toiletries such as shampoos, body washes and lotions as compared to the same products intended for adults.

CIRS clarifications:

  • Product Formula: Requires additional safety assessment for the content of each ingredient when intended for babies
  • Production Process: Requires the combining manufacturing characteristics and enterprise for quality control of the product during the manufacturing process
  • Labeling: Inclusion of the words “suitable for kids” or “use under the supervision of adult” in Chinese characters
