CEN Releases Standards on Jewelries

November 7, 2016

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has released several standards on jewelries namely:

Name of Standard Description
EN ISO 11210:2016 Jewellery - Determination of Platinum in Platinum Jewellery Alloys - Gravimetric Method after Precipitation of Diammonium Hexachloroplatinate (ISO 11210:2014) It establishes a gravimetric method for determining platinum in platinum jewellery alloys, preferably within the range of fineness stated in ISO 9202.
EN ISO 11427:2016     Jewellery - Determination of Silver in Silver Jewellery Alloys - Volumetric (Potentiometric) Method Using Potassium Bromide (ISO 11427:2014) It establishes a volumetric method for determining platinum in silver in jewellery alloys, preferably within the range of fineness stated in ISO 9202.
EN ISO 11490:2016 Jewellery - Determination of Palladium In Palladium Jewellery Alloys - Gravimetric Determination with Dimethylglyoxime (ISO 11490:2015) It establishes a gravimetric method for determining palladium in palladium jewellery alloys, preferably within the range of fineness stated in ISO 9202.
EN ISO 11494:2016 Jewellery - Determination of Platinum in Platinum Jewellery Alloys - ICP-OES Method Using Yttrium as Internal Standard Element (ISO 11494:2014) It establishes a method for determining platinum in platinum jewellery alloys, preferably within the range of fineness specified in ISO 9202, through inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES).
EN ISO 11495:2016 Jewellery - Determination of Palladium in Palladium Jewellery Alloys - ICP-OES Method Using Yttrium as Internal Standard Element (ISO 11495:2014) It establishes a method for determining palladium in palladium jewellery alloys, preferably within the range of fineness stated in ISO 9202, through inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES).
EN ISO 9202:2016 Jewellery - Fineness of Precious Metal Alloys (ISO 9202:2014) It establishes a range of fineness of precious metal alloys (excluding solders) recommended for use in the field of jewellery.
