The Canadian government, through Health Canada, notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its Notice of Modification to the List of Permitted Emulsifying, Gelling, Stabilizing or Thickening Agents to Enable the Use of Quillaia Extract (Type 2) as an Emulsifying Agent for Oil-Based Coloring Formulations and Unstandardized Oil-Based Ingredients when Used in Certain Foods.
The notice publicly announces the Department's decision and provides the appropriate contact information for any inquiries or for those wishing to submit any new scientific information relevant to the safety of this food additive.
The proposed date of adoption had been set on March 4, 2016; the final date to submit comments is May 27, 2016.
